MR. STEPHEN THOMAS SOUTHERLAND, age 72, of Macon, GA, died peacefully Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, GA. Steve - ‘Stevie’ to childhood friends and family - was a source of love, support, and guidance for so many in the Macon community. He was married to Lynn R. Southerland and was her caretaker in hospice until her passing on June 7, 2023. Together they modeled deep love for each other and a lifelong devotion to God during their 48 years of marriage.
He is survived by his two sons – Wilson T. Southerland of Rochester, NY, and Anthony Z. Southerland (Andrea) of Spring Hill, TN; four grandchildren – Madelyne, Zachary, Murphy, and Daniel. He also leaves behind older sisters Judith S. Brendle and Kathy S. Paulk; nieces and nephews Deb Brown (Glenn), Rob Brendle (Maurie), Matt Paulk (Nikki), Casey Paulk (Traci), Andy Paulk, Robert Ruffo (Meghan), Stephen Ruffo (Nan), and Christi Ruffo; and numerous cousins and friends.
MRS. LYNN RUFFO SOUTHERLAND, age 77, of Macon, GA, died peacefully Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, GA. She is survived by her two sons – Wilson T. Southerland of Rochester, NY and Anthony Z. Southerland (Andrea) of Spring Hill, TN; four grandchildren – Madelyne, Zachary, Murphy, and Daniel. She also leaves behind older brother Joseph L. Ruffo and twin brother Robert A. Ruffo; sisters-in-law Judith S. Brendle and Kathy S. Paulk; nieces and nephews Deb Brown (Glenn), Rob Brendle (Maurie), Matt Paulk (Nikki), Casey Paulk (Traci), Andy Paulk, Robert Ruffo (Meghan), Stephen Ruffo (Nan), and Christi Ruffo; and numerous cousins and friends.
Lynn Ruffo Southerland was born February 21, 1946, in Emory (Atlanta), GA, daughter of the late Dr. Anthony Leonard Ruffo and Carolyn Wilson Ruffo. The family moved to Houston, TX, when Lynn was in first grade, where she had a happy childhood. At age 10, her father passed away and the family moved to Fort Valley, GA, where her mother’s family had lived for generations.
MR. DOUGLAS RAY ALDRIDGE, Age 68, of Atlanta, GA died Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 8th at 12:00 Noon at Orphans Cemetery in Eastman, GA and a memorial service will be held at Northside United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA on Wednesday, August 9th at 2:00 PM ET to celebrate his life and bid farewell to a remarkable soul.
