MRS. BETTY NELL SHEFFIELD CRAVEY, age 83, of Milan, GA, died Monday November 18, 2024, at her son’s residence in Cordele, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, November 22, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Aubrey Corbitt and Rev. Wayne Cobb officiating, with interment in Milan City Cemetery.
Betty Nell was born in Rhine, GA on April 23, 1941. She attended school in Chauncey, GA and later lived in Telfair County. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in her younger years and later moved her membership to Siloam Baptist Church during her marriage years and was a current member of Milan Baptist Church. She was a faithful Christian lady and taught Sunday School at Siloam Baptist Church for many years. Betty Nell married her husband, Dan, on December 31, 1957, and they made their home in Telfair County. They were blessed with four children, Donnie, Tommy, Mary Ann, and Chubby. She was a dedicated wife, and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at Royden Wear in McRae, GA as a serger for over twenty years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and was affectionately known as “Mamaw”. Betty Nell was the daughter of the late Ida Lee Collins Sheffield and Marion Charlie Sheffield and was preceded in death by her Husband, John Daniel “Dan” Cravey, Brother, Marion Charlie “Junior” Sheffield, Jr., and an Infant Brother.
She is survived by her Daughter – Mary Ann Mikell (Craig) of Milan, GA; Sons – Donnie Cravey (Debbie) of Cordele, GA, Tommy Cravey of Milan, GA, and Johnny “Chubby” Cravey (Debby) of Alamo, GA; 12 Grandchildren – Danny Cravey (Tonia), Jonathon Cravey (Shala), Zachary Cravey (Jessie), Caitlyn Cravey, Jennifer McGovern (Brandon), Kyle Cravey (Emily), Lauren Speight (Greg), Tiffany Batchelor, Kimberly Lewis (D.J.), Brandi Johnson (Shannon), Amber Poole (Andy), and Adam Cravey; 24 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters-in-law – Bertha Cravey, Betty Eckles, both of Macon, GA, and Latann Buchanan of Plains, GA; Several Nieces and Nephews.
The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 12:30PM-2:00PM Friday, November 22, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Milan Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Milan, GA 31060.
