Neva was born on August 28, 1914, in Sylvester, GA to parents Cynthia DuPree Reynolds and Claude Hampton Reynolds. At the time of her birth World War I had just started. Neva lived through two World Wars, and two pandemics, Spanish flu and Covid. At age six her family moved to Hawkinsville where she grew up, along with her older brother and two older sisters. She joined First Baptist Church of Hawkinsville at age 12. Neva graduated from Hawkinsville High School and then GSCW now known as Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. After GSCW, she taught school in Pulaski County where she met Principal and part time preacher, William Carl Peacock. Neva always said that she had previously determined to never marry a redhead, nor a preacher. She got both when she and Carl were married on December 26, 1940. The couple taught for one year at Plainfield School in Dodge County. They then moved, in the summer of 1941 to Ft. Worth, TX to attend divinity school, and during World War II also worked at Consolidated Aircraft where bomber aircraft were being manufactured. In 1945, following divinity school, Neva and Carl moved to Griffin where Carl pastored. There they had three children, Tom, Carol Ann and Harriet. In 1955 they moved to Columbus where Carl pastored, and Neva continued her church work and attended Auburn University while mothering their children. After her children were old enough Neva returned to teaching elementary school in Columbus. When Carl retired, they moved back to Dodge County where Neva taught school in Chester. They continued to enjoy their grandchildren, travel, church and time with friends. In 1997 they moved to a retirement home. Carl died in 1998. At the retirement home Neva started leading a low impact exercise group six mornings a week. At ages 105 and 108 Neva, leading her exercise group, was featured on Atlanta TV news. Neva always said, "If you keep moving, you'll keep on moving ". She was a member of Plainfield Baptist Church. Neva loved her God, her family and her friends.
