MR. CARROL RAY GIDDENS, age 88, of Plainfield, GA, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Friday, November 29, 2024.
MR. CARROL RAY GIDDENS, age 88, of Plainfield, GA, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, December 2, at Plainfield Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Tanner and Rev. Adam Martin officiating, followed by interment in Middle Ground Church Cemetery.
Mr. Giddens was born on December 7, 1935, to Annie Pearl and Earl Giddens of Plainfield, Georgia. He was a lifelong resident of Dodge County. He was a member of Plainfield Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and song leader.
He graduated from Chester High School and Mercer Extension Theology Course. He retired from Robins AFB after 36 years of service. He was a charter member of the Plainfield Fire Department fire fighters and board of directors. He was a charter member of the Middle Ground Cemetery Association and served as the secretary and treasurer. He also served in the Georgia Army National Guard. His hobbies included farming, quail hunting, fox hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Mr. Giddens was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lamar Giddens.
Carrol Ray was confident in his faith and led a legacy of believers in his family. He is proudly survived by his wife of 67 years, Rossie; sons, Randy Carrol Giddens (Cheryl) of Eastman, GA, and Greg Giddens (Kim) of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Will Carrol Giddens (Shannon) of Statesboro, GA, Holly Martin (Adam) of Lovettsville, VA, Skylar Rae Giddens of Hahira, GA, Kelly Giddens of Midlothian, VA, and Jack Giddens of Reston, VA; great-grandchildren, Mazey and Rozzey Giddens, and Charley Kate, Emma, and Simeon Martin; sister, Betty Ann Smith (Gerald) of Eastman, GA; brother-in-law, Therell Cobb of Eastman, GA; and sisters-in-law, Regina Sheffield of Acworth, GA, and Denise Sheffield of Reynolds, GA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family may be contacted at the Giddens residence, 201 Clayton Giddens Rd, Eastman, GA, 31023 and will receive friends and family in Plainfield Baptist Church from 10:00AM-11:00AM Monday, December 2.
