Obituary for Willene Sheffield

MRS. WILLENE ELIZABETH ROGERS SHEFFIELD, age 70, of Eastman, GA, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, August 20, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Tim Tanner and Rev. Mike Grenade officiating, with interment in Zebulon Cemetery.

Willene Elizabeth Rogers Sheffield married the love of her life Carlton Lee “Carl” Sheffield at age 18 after they were introduced by her mother Estelle who adored him. They lived a full life in the Army traveling to many states including Hawaii where their only child Tanya was born, and even lived in Berlin, Germany. Willene was known for her genuine kindness and willingness to help everyone. She would give her last dollar to help someone, or a ride, or advice. She was a genuinely good Christian woman, a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and attended Plainfield Baptist Church for years with the family. She had many jobs but was with her Walmart family for 29 years and retired as Personnel Director. Willene was most proud of being a mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and her sisters and brothers. To know her was to love her as was evidence in all the kind words people have shared over the years. Willene was preceded in death by her parents, William Joseph Rogers and Minnie Estelle Peacock Rogers, husband, Carlton Lee “Carl” Sheffield, brothers-in-law, Mark Maloy Sheffield and Benny Carroll Sheffield, and an honorary sister, Barbara Ann Rogers Mullis.

She is survived by her Daughter - Tanya Sheffield Jenkins (Scott) of Eastman; Grandson - Caden Sellers Jenkins of Eastman; Parents-in-love – Javene Gillis Thomas and Everett Thomas, both of Eastman; 2 Brothers – Coley Rogers (Sherry) and Joseph Rogers (Patrice), both of Eastman; 4 Sisters – Mary Alice Pitts of Eastman, Louise Beasley (Bobby) of Cadwell, Bessie Jean Horne (Cary) of Eastman, and Pearlene Brown (Donald) of Eastman; Honorary Sister – Kathy Ann Rogers Johnson (Mike) of Plainfield; 2 Sisters-in-law – Tammy Smalley Sheffield of Sedalia, MO and Annisa Barry Sheffield of Hartsville, SC; Very Best Friend throughout life – Cindy McSweeney (Dave) of Hawthorne, FL; and many beloved Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts, and Uncles.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Tanya and Scott Jenkins, 44 24th Avenue, Eastman, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM Saturday, August 20.
