MR. WENDELL LAMAR WINGO, age 63, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at his residence.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, July 16, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Danny Gay officiating, with interment in Yawn Cemetery in Chauncey.

 Wendell was born in Killen, TX and moved to Chauncey with his family in 1965. He graduated from Dodge County High School in 1975 and graduated from welding school in 1977. After completing welding school, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served his country faithfully. Once he completed his military service, he went to work for Paulk Manufacturing as a welder, built mobile homes for Flintstone INC, in Ocilla, for 3 years, and later worked for Lithonia Lighting as a press operator. He then decided to go back to school, and graduated from Heat of Georgia Technical College as an LPN and worked for over 12 years as an LPN at McRae Manor Nursing Home, in McRae, Georgia War Veterans Home, in Milledgeville, and Providence Health and Rehab, in Sparta. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Eastman, and enjoyed playing guitar, singing, hunting, fishing, making knives, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Wendell was the son of the late Jane Yawn Wingo Coleman and William W. Wingo, and was preceded in death by a Sister, Patricia “Beth” Wingo Helton, an Infant Brother, Father-in-law, Reuben Yancey, a Brother-in-law, Reuben Thomas “Tommy” Yancey, Jr., and a Niece, Wendy Snyder.

 He is survived by his Wife of 46 years – Jenny Yancey Wingo of Eastman; Son – Eli Wingo of Eastman; 2 Grandsons – Jax Thomas Wingo and Charlie Wingo; 2 Brothers – Avery “Rocky” Wingo (Michelle) of Fitzgerald and Sherwin Anderson (Shelia) of Chauncey; Mother-in-law – Grace R. Yancey of Eastman; Sister-in-law – Bertha Snyder of Eastman; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the residence of Eli Wingo, 1351 Bell Line Rd., Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM Friday, July 16.
