MR. WAYMON ALFRED McCRANIE, SR., age 77, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at his residence.

MR. WAYMON ALFRED McCRANIE, SR., age 77, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at his residence.

 Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Monday, October 28, at Vilula Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Daniel Cook, Dr. Jerry Peele, Mr. Mike Hilliard and Mr. Jody Rogers officiating.

 Mr. McCranie was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of Eastman First Baptist Church and the D.O.C. Sunday school class. He was a 1960 graduate of Dodge County High School, a graduate of Middle Georgia College with an Associate’s Degree in History, Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History, and received his Master’s Degree in School Administration from Middle Tennessee State University. He was a retired educator from the Dodge County Board of Education having worked for 38 years. During those years, he taught and coached football and basketball at Eastman Elementary School. He served as principal of Eastman Elementary, Dodge County Middle School and North Dodge Elementary School. He was a former Dodge County Commissioner from 1976 to 1980, and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed school and farming activities including tending his cows. He was a true and dedicated family man. Waymon was son of the late Geneva Burnham McCranie and Andrew H. McCranie.

 Survivors: Wife of 57 years – Anne Kelly McCranie of Eastman; 2 Daughters – Dawn M. Knight (Mike) and Daina M. Peacock (Mark) both of Eastman; Son – Al McCranie (Candi) of Eastman; 9 Grandchildren – Michael Knight, Thomas Knight, Annie Knight, Alexus Ray, Addison Ray, Caymon McCranie, Payton McCranie, Jess McCranie, and Gabe McCranie; 2 Step-Grandchildren – Jaisley Peacock and Jaislen Peacock; Sister – Bobbie Faye Cadwell (Ronnie) of Chauncey; 3 Brothers – Curtis McCranie, James McCranie (Judy), and Dean McCranie (Ann) all of Eastman; Mother-in-Law – Katurah G. Kelly of Chauncey; Sisters-in-Law and Brother-in-Law – Kay Skipper (Darrell), Bob Kelly (Maria) both of Chauncey, and Caryle Parkerson (Rex) of Eastman; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces, and Great-Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the McCranie residence, 2552 Chauncey-Rhine Hwy., Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 5:00PM-7:00PM Sunday, October 27. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to the Eastman First Baptist Church Building Fund, 5107 Oak Street, Eastman, GA 31023.
