VERLIE ANN STRICKLAND PEACOCK, age 77, of McRae, GA, died Friday, April 3, 2020 in Nashville, GA.

  Graveside service will be held at 2:00PM Monday, April 6 at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Billy Swift, Jr. officiating.

 Verlie was born in Macon, of the Baptist Faith, and a waitress for many years at The Plantation Restaurant in McRae and Pa Pete’s Restaurant in Milan. She was a dedicated wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader who loved literature and history and enjoyed listening to county and classical music, especially Waylon Jennings and Beethoven. Verlie was the daughter of the late Willie Clara Williamson Strickland and William Hansel Strickland, widow of Benny Peacock, Sr. and was preceded in death by 4 Siblings, Maybelle Strickland, Mary Martha Reynolds, Bob Strickland, and Thomas Strickland. Sister-in-Law, Betty Thornton.

 She is survived by 4 Daughters – Kathy Cortez (Rigo) of Douglas, Cindy Harrell (Jimmy) of Rhine, Beverly McCranie (Tony) of Eastman, and Lori Rowell of Nashville, GA; Son – Benny Peacock, Jr. (Joanne) of Lawrenceville; 8 Grandchildren – Billy Ray Swift (Amanda), Melissa Smith (Cody), Amy Swift, LeAnn Bowen (Wade), Jeremy Swift (Tracy), Tiffany Wyman (Michael), Angel Pritchett (Lee), and Jamie McCranie; 18 Great-Grandchildren – Austin (Kelly), Nicholas (Brooke), Cale, Ethan, Colby, Madison, Ryelee, Brianna, Braleigh, Bristol, Jeremy Jr., Katherine, Clayton, Alexus, Gabby, Jenna, Caiden, and Miley; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren – Canaan, Easton, and Malcolm; Sister – Clara Sawyer of Eastman; 3 Brothers – Danny Strickland (Donna) of Rhine, Charlie Strickland (Ann) of Dawsonville, and John F. Strickland; 4 Sisters-in-law – Bobby Hightower, Cora Strickland, Lawanda Gillis (Wendell), and Carol Bland (Dan); Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

 Serving as pallbearers are Ethan Smith, Kale Swift, Jeremy Swift, Wade Bowen, Michael Wyman, Jamie McCranie, Tony Graham, and Tony Strickland. Jimmy Harrell is the musician for the funeral service. The family would like to extend a special appreciation to McRae Manor Nursing Home, Hospice Care of Ocilla, Carter Clements, Dodge County Hospital, ATS Ambulance Service, D & B Home Care, and Rhine Drugs for the loving care and support they provided for Mrs. Verlie.
