Obituary for Vanessa Rozar Couey

VANESSA ROZAR COUEY, of Decatur, GA, died on her sixty-fifth birthday on Friday, March 1.

She was born and raised outside of Eastman, GA, and lived there until 2017, when she moved to Decatur. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Eastman and a committed Christian. Vanessa held a variety of jobs over her life, but her true calling was as a mother. Nothing brought her greater happiness than making other people happy, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Vanessa was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Jeannine (Hinson) Rozar, and by her beloved husband Steve Couey, to whom she was married for nearly 38 years until his death in 2016. She is survived by her daughter Kelli Couey of Decatur; her son Blake Couey and his partner Jonathan Henke of St. Peter, MN; her sister-cousins Leanna Noah of Cochran, GA, and Robbin Sheffield of Eastman, GA; and her faithful feline companion Jett.

At Vanessa’s request, there will not be a funeral. Please celebrate her life by remembering the good times you had with her or making a donation in her honor to your favorite local charity.
