MR. TONY EDWARD REGISTER, age 74, of Tifton, GA, died Thursday, November 16, 2023, at his residence in Tifton, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM Monday, November 20, at Southerland Funeral Chapel in Eastman, GA, with Mr. Tommy Bargeron officiating, with interment in Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Chester, GA.
Tony was born in Dublin, GA and was of the Baptist Faith. He was raised in Chester, GA, a 1967 graduate of Dodge County High School, and later attended Georgia Southwestern University. He worked for Stuckey’s, Inc. in the accounting department for over eight years and later formed a partnership in 1979 with his siblings where he was the president of JHT&G, Inc. and RCR, Inc. He was an excellent businessman and an even better father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Tony enjoyed trips to his property on Lake Blackshear, boating, annual family trips to the beach, and recreational activities with his family. He was a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves, an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren. He was the son of the late Alice Rowland Register and Luther Franklin Register and was preceded in death by his Brother-in-law, Donald Cleghorn and Nephew, Christopher Brett Carter.
He is survived by his Daughter – Natasha “Tasha” Armistead of Boca Raton, FL; Grandchildren – Mary Grace Armistead, Jackson Armistead, and Anna Armistead, all of Boca Raton, FL; Sisters – Betty Hedstrom (Carl “Bud”) of Rock Hill, SC and Judy Cleghorn of Ocilla, GA; Brother – Gary Register of Fitzgerald, GA; Nieces and Nephews – Holly Culpepper Jeffreys (Michael) of Tucker, GA, Greg Culpepper (Natalie) of Atanta, GA, April Watson of Tifton, GA, and Natalie Register Perkel, PhD. (Dr. Joshua Perkel) of Macon, GA; Numerous Cousins and Friends.
The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:30PM-2:30PM November 20. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church, 5025 Chester Hwy, Chester, GA 31012.
