THERESA MARIE DUNN PHIPPS, age 89, of Blytheville, AR, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at The Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.

 Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, April 11, at Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine, GA, with Rev. Fred Parker officiating.

 Mrs. Phipps was born and reared in Miami, FL and was of the Lutheran Faith. After high school she married and relocated to Inglewood, CA and later lived in several places through the years including, Satellite Beach, FL, Kingston, NY, and New Albany, IN before settling into Silver City, NM. During her time in Silver City, she obtained her college education from Western New Mexico University, receiving double bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Family Consumer Science and later double master’s degrees in Special Education and Psychology. She worked as an educator for 26 years before retiring at age 70 from Lynn Middle School in Las Cruces, NM. She taught at several places in New Mexico including, Silver City, Hobbs, Deming, Santa Teresa, and Las Cruces. She continued living in Las Cruces for a short time after her husband’s death before moving to Blytheville, AR to reside with her son and daughter-in-law for the rest of her life. She enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, cooking, baking cinnamon rolls and cookies, and spending time with her family. Theresa was the daughter of the late Ann McRae Holohan and Hubert Dunn. She was preceded in death by four siblings and her husband of 9 years, Russell E. Phipps, Sr.

 She is survived by 2 Sons – Paul R. Jenkins (Veda) of Blytheville, AR and Phillip R. Jenkins, Jr. (Maggie) of Australia; 2 Daughters – Jane Jenkins of Lawton, OK and Catherine Hodges (Drew) of Jacksonville, FL.
