MRS. TAWANA GIDDENS BLANKENSHIP, age 71, of Eastman, GA, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

 Memorial services will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, March 14, in Freedom Worship Center, 345 Pine Bluff Road, Eastman, with Rev. Myron Parkerson officiating.

 Tawana was a native of Dodge County, a member of Freedom Worship Center in Eastman, and attended Dodge County High School before moving to San Diego, CA and later to Jacksonville, NC, where she graduated from Onslow County High School. She attended Costal Carolina Community College and was a 1970 graduate of Troutman’s Beauty School in Jacksonville, NC. She returned home to Dodge County in 1980 where she worked as a Cosmetologist and was owner of Shear Happenings for many years. Tawana was a loving wife , mother and grandmother to her family. She was a member and choir director at Central Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed painting, taking care of her dog, working in her yard, singing, and listening to gospel music. Tawana was the daughter of the late Ina Peacock Giddens and Julian M. Giddens and was preceded in death by her Husband, Marvin Dessie “Bo” Shepherd.

 Survivors: Husband of 18 years – Randy Blankenship of Eastman; Daughter – Tina Collins (Tim) of Chauncey; Son – Timothy Shepherd of Eastman; Granddaughter – Jeda Faith Rawlins of McRae; Sister – Nona A. Purser (Leon) of Cochran; 2 Brothers – Randall Giddens (Ivey) of Kathleen and Shannon Giddens (Carolyn) of Fayetteville; Several Nieces and Nephews; Faithful Canine Companion – Prissy.

 The family may be contacted at the Blankenship residence, 79 Mary Alexander Drive, Eastman, and will receive friends from 2PM-3PM at Freedom Worship Center before service. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Freedom Worship Center, 1317 Reedy Branch Road, Eastman, GA 31023.
