Sylvia was born in Eastman, GA, on May 25, 1939, to the late Johnnie Louise Beck Johnson and Olen H. Johnson. She was a stay-at-home mother until her son reached school age. She then worked for many years in the Dodge County School System, first as a paraprofessional, and then as an elementary teacher.  She is survived by her son, Clay Hall (Carol) of Eastman; daughter, Tamra Holt (Webster) of Kathleen; grandson, Caleb Holt; sisters, Bettye Gilman (Fleming) of Cochran and Linda Day of Eastman; brother, Hugh Johnson (Diane) of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law, Jeanette Hall of Kathleen; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Friday, April 10. In lieu of flowers or food, the family asks that contributions be given to the Christian Life Center, 307 King Street, Eastman, GA or Georgia Hospice Care, 1111 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021.

The family would also like to express sincere, heartfelt gratitude to long-term caregiver, Wanda Tripp, for the loving care she generously gave to Mrs. Sylvia.
