MR. STEVE CHASTAIN, age 71, of Eastman, GA died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, July 18, at First Baptist Church in Hawkinsville, with Dr. Don McClung officiating, with interment in Orphans Cemetery.

 Mr. Chastain was born in 1951 in Hiawassee, GA, in Towns County. He was a 1969 graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta, where the family lived during the time his father worked for Lockheed Martin. After graduating high school, Steve joined the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and he was stationed at Dobbins AFB in Marietta. He served in the Reserves for 10 years. He married in 1973 and lived in Kennesaw while working as a production employee with Kemira Chemical Company. Over the years he worked his way up in the company and attended night class at North Metro Technical College, receiving certificates in electrical and welding. He was a plant electrician with Kemira Chemical Company and enjoyed a 42-year career. He retired and moved to Dodge County in 2014 to be with the family and watch the grands grow up, living in Eastman for the past nine years. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, church activities, and was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He was a dedicated member of FBC Hawkinsville. Steve was the son of the late Erma Lee Scroggs Chastain and Vaughn William Chastain.

 He is survived by his Wife of 50 years - Pat Wood Chastain of Eastman; Daughter – Stephanie Milner (Bart) of Eastman; 2 Grandchildren – Bo and Jake Milner of Eastman; Sister – Janie Tallant of Cumming, GA; 4 In-Laws – Rondal Wood (Pat) of Hiawassee, GA, Gladys Kelly of Douglasville, GA, Jim Wood of Hiawassee, GA, and Shirley Youngblood (Ronnie) of Hiawassee, GA; Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

 In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Backpack Ministry at FBC Hawkinsville, 155 Broad Street, Hawkinsville, GA, 31036. The family may be contacted at the residence of Stephanie and Bart Milner, 546 Bell Line Rd., Eastman, GA, 31023, and will receive friends in First Baptist Church in Hawkinsville from 1:00PM-2:00PM Tuesday, July 18.
