Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 30, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Tim Moorhouse officiating, with interment in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rusty Harper officiating.
Sharleen was born in McRae and was a lifelong resident of Rhine. She was a 1969 graduate of Dodge County High School and studied at Middle Georgia College before graduating Cosmetology School at Ben Hill Irwin Tech. Sharleen was a very faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and VBS and was a dedicated church worker, willing to help in any way possible. She was a retired civil service data clerk at Robins Air Force Base and was a licensed cosmetologist who worked for numerous salons and at McRae Manor Nursing Home. She was a former employee at Zack’s Restaurant, clerk at Rhine City Hall and was a longtime Pondtown Festival committee member who worked tirelessly to continue the legacy her father, J.T. Williams and others in the Rhine Community started in 1976. She was a loving babysitter to many of her family’s children through the years and was affectionately known as “Ma Ma” and “Shar-wee”. She was a member of a family group of ladies known as the “CHAPS” that was made up of Sharleen Williams, Sheryl Bearden, Gloria Kelly, Sue Barron, and Phyllis Hilliard. Mrs. Williams enjoyed reading her Bible daily, attending gospel sings and listening to gospel music, and spending fellowship time with her family. Sharleen was preceded in death by her parents, Nell Hilliard Williams and J.T. Williams.
She is survived by her Daughter – Kayla Williams of Rhine, GA; Sister – Sheryl Bearden of Eastman, GA; Numerous Loving and Faithful Cousins including a Special Cousin – Beth “Pee Wee” Williams.
Mrs. Williams will lie-in-state at Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 11AM-3PM Friday, January 29. The family may be contacted at the Williams residence, 297 Central Street North, Rhine, GA 31077.
