MRS. SARA “BITSY” BOWEN JONES, age 74, of Milan, GA, died Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Dodge County Hospital.

 Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Southerland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Ryals with interment in Antioch #2 Baptist Church in Milan, GA.

 Bitsy was born on June 25, 1951, to the late Mary Ida Barron Bowen and Hoyt A. Bowen. She attended Dodge County High School and married her high school sweetheart, Tommy Jones, on February 25, 1972. Bitsy was a dedicated wife and a loving mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed sitting in her chair and loved watching TV while her husband attended to her every need. Bitsy was a member of Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church in Chauncey. She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings, Laurie A. “L.A.” Bowen, Steve Bowen, Evelyn Dowdy, Dorothy Nelson, and Mildred McRae.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years – Tommy Jones of Milan; Daughters – Angie Helton (Billy) of Eastman, Lindy Amerson (Chris) of Cochran and Michelle Davis of Savannah; Grandchildren – Marci Courson, Landen Jones (Camille), Jeb Amerson (Hayden), Carlie Davis, Ryder Amerson, Laken Rogers (Shane), Will Helton, and Harley Helton; Great-Grandchildren – Rustie Kate, Jaylon, Jaycee, Ava, Marli, Kyler, Tegan, Dax, Jordyn, Lexie, and Sadie; Sisters – Linda Collins and Janette Lann, both of Rhine; Sisters-in-law – Barbara Cravey (Eddie) of Rhine, Fran Douglas (Dennis) of Eastman, and Bettye Bowen of Warner Robins; Several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins and friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Jones family residence, 1256 Leonard Jones Road, Milan, GA 31060, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM, May 12, 2026. In addition to flowers the family requests contributions to Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church, 32 El Bethel Rd., Chauncey, GA 31011.
