MR. JAMES SAMUEL “SAMMY” MIDDLEBROOKS, age 85, of Eastman, GA, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home in Eastman, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Sammy was born in Covington, GA on July 5, 1939, to the late Ellen Elizabeth Casteel Middlebrooks and Isaac Samuel Middlebrooks. He was of the Holiness faith, served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a mechanic for over 25 years at Charlie Nelms Garage and later for Doug McCurdy Automotive. He later made a career as a carpenter, which he enjoyed for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, golfing with family, and loved dirt track racing. He loved his family and loved to work to provide for them. He was affectionately known as “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren. Along with his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by his Wife, Carolyn Middlebrooks, Daughter, Rhonda Davis, and Brothers, David Middlebrooks and Dr. Monroe Middlebrooks.
He is survived by his Daughter – Tammie Harrell (David) of Eastman, GA; Son – Samuel Keith “Biggun” Middlebrooks of Eastman, GA; Grandchildren – Tommy Lee Ruark, Angel McMillian (Eric), Michael Tillery, Jr., Heather Smith, and Carolyn Marlene Giles; Great-Grandchildren – Damien Lee Ruark, Aailyah Ruark, Hailey Hulett, Jesse McGee, Colt Walker, Kelsey Smith, and Tyler Giles; Sisters – Nellie Jack “Jackie” Hart (J.B.) of Acworth, GA, Janie Wooley (Phillip) of Conyers, GA, and Susan Murrell of Eastman, GA; Brother – Robert Middlebrooks (Patsy) of Covington, GA; Sisters-in-law – Billy Ann Middlebrooks of Eastman, GA, Margie Victory of Griffin, GA; Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
