Obituary for Roy Davis

MR. ROY F. “KILLER” DAVIS, age 69, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, January 10, 2025, at Dodge County Hospital.

 Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, January 12, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Myron Parkerson and Rev. Ricky Gilmore officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 Roy was born in Macon, GA on July 30, 1955. He was raised in Plainfield and attended Dodge County High School. After high school, he went to work. He started out as a farmer and later worked as a surveyor for Jim Ross for many years before going to work with Gilman Paper Company. He retired from Gilman Paper Company in the 1990s which gave him more time to pursue his passion of fishing. He loved fishing, coon hunting, telling jokes and stories with everyone he met, and worshiping the Lord. He attended Eastside Baptist Church and coached recreational ball for over 30 years. Roy was the son of the late Ann Thompson Williams and Hammond Davis and was preceded in death by his Daughter, Denise Davis, Sisters, Diane Hopwood and Brenda Peacock, and Step-Father, Jack Williams.

 He is survived by his Son – Roy Junior Davis (Amanda) of Rhine, GA; Step-Son – Jeffery Fish (Sheila) of Eastman, GA; Grandchildren – Hayden Davis, Lydia Davis, and Justin Fish; Nephews – T.J. Cravey (Angie) and Joey Cravey (Katie), both of Eastman, GA; Several great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

 The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM Sunday, January 12. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Dodge County Recreational Department, P.O. Box 4393 Eastman, GA 31023, in honor of Roy.
