Obituary for Ronnie Reaves

MR. RONALD ROBERT “RONNIE” REAVES, age 71, of Milan, GA, died Monday, September 19, 2022.

A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Murl Gwynn.

Ronnie was born and raised in Milan, a member of Sand Grove Baptist Church, and attended Rhine High School before moving to Atlanta in the early 1970s. His first job after high school was as a printing supervisor for over five years in Atlanta for Carbon Paper Company. He then went to work for many years for Americord Company in Lumber City before going to work for Gilman Paper Company for over ten years in the 1990s. He later retired for good from Tomberlin Trucking Company, which he worked with for over five years. Ronnie loved spending time with his children, especially his grandchildren. He loved farming, which was something he had grown up doing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, working around his home on his tractor, and operating his own “Big Daddy Christmas Shop”, which he worked on projects annually for his family. He was an amazing cook, a wonderful storyteller, and a most beloved father and grandfather to his family. Ronnie was the son of the late Margie Bennett Reaves and S.T. Reaves.

He is survived by his 2 Daughters – Sherri Reaves Hinson and Michelle Reaves Herndon; Son – Jesse Reaves; 5 Grandchildren – Chase Hinson, Megan Hinson, Ryan Herndon, Evan Herndon, and Jarrett Reaves; Honorary Grandchildren – Hailey Barber and Hayden Barber; Former Wife – Vickie Reaves; Honorary Family Members – Mike Barber (Jen) and Devin Nelson; Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews; Beloved Pets – Amigo, Fido, and Tom.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Colony Bank % Donya Joiner Butler, for a scholarship to be created in honor of Ronnie’s love for his community and its local farmers.
