MR. RICHARD MATTHEW JONES, age 75, of Eastman, GA, went to live with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after passing on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Orphans Cemetery in Eastman, GA, with Dr. Jerry Peele and Mr. Jim Williams officiating.
Mr. Jones was born in Griffin, GA, and was a member and a former deacon chairman of Eastman First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Isaac and Rebekah Sunday school class. Richard was a 1966 graduate of Stanhope Elmore High School in Millbrook, AL. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Middle Georgia College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern. Richard married in 1969, and he and his wife, June, raised two sons, Matt and Andrew. He worked for Sunshine Biscuits as a District Manager for many years. Years later, he worked as a Regional Director for Three Rivers Home Health Services, Inc. until his retirement. Richard was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He served as a board member for The Salvation Army and American Red Cross in Dublin, GA. He was the chairman of the Heart of Georgia Technical College Board of Directors from 2004 to 2006. He was a loyal supporter of the Women in Need of God's Shelter (WINGS) program. Richard began his special "Penny in a Pocket" ministry featuring Psalms 91. He was a Christian man who loved his Lord and family dearly.
He was the son of the late Joyce Peacock Jones and Leonard Ray Jones Jr. and was preceded in death by his Parents-In-Law, Jack and Bonnie King. He is survived by his wife of 54 years – June King Jones of Eastman; 2 Sons – Matthew Jones (Paula) of Eastman, GA and Andrew Jones (Lauren) of Rising Fawn, GA; 4 Grandchildren – Ellie Jones, Leighton Jones, Jack Jones, and Logan Jones; Sister – Cindy Jones Gatlin of Eastman, GA; Brother – Scotty Jones of Eastman, GA; Aunt – Neva Peacock of Atlanta, GA; Several Cousins and Numerous Friends.
The family may be contacted at the residence of June King Jones, 2654 Dublin Hwy, Eastman, GA, 31023, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 9:30AM-10:30AM Tuesday, August 13.
