REV. BILLY CARROLL FLOYD, age 89, of Alma, GA, died Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at his residence in Bacon County.

 Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Monday, October 5, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eastman, with Rev. Thurman “Pet” Hayes and Rev. T. F. Yawn officiating.

Rev. Floyd was born in Dodge County and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired civil service employee at Robins Air Force Base and was a longtime Congregational Methodist pastor, a man of strong faith and a devout Christian. Rev. Floyd served the Lord in his daily walk as well as in the many churches he pastored. After becoming ordained, his first Church was Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church in Chauncey where he served for over 4 years before moving to Jacksonville, FL to serve at Zoar Congregational Methodist Church for several years. He soon moved his family to their longtime home in Alma where he served as pastor of Westside Congregational Methodist Church for the next 12 years. He was the charter pastor at New Vision Congregational Methodist Church in Alma for over 3 years and later served as the pastor at New Hope Congregational Methodist Church in Alma for 5 years. He also filled in for many pastors at area churches for many years. Brother Billy was a humble, sweet and caring husband, father and papa who was loved by his family, church family, and friends. He enjoyed watching sports on television, fishing, and spending time with his family. Billy was the son of the late Dorris C. Floyd and Ethel Coleman Floyd and was preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Tommy Floyd and Gary Floyd.

             He is survived by his Wife of 57 years – Vaunelle Hilliard Floyd of Alma; 2 Daughters – Donna Glisson of Roanoke, VA and Rhonda Brigman (Wanice) of Alma; Son – Kenneth C. Floyd (Gail) of Douglas; 4 Grandsons – Ben Floyd (Blair), Brian Glisson (Amanda), Chaz Giddens (Paige) and Steven Brigman (Lacy); 5 Great-Grandchildren – Marlie Giddens, Brayden Glisson, Britney Glisson, Cooper Floyd, Keltzie Powell, Bentley Brigman and Connor Brigman; Sisters-in-law – Patsy Floyd of Yuba City, CA, Willie Mae Vickery (Cleve) of Monroe, Ruby Bowen of Wadley; Brothers-in-law – Robert Lee Hilliard of Broxton, Ronald Hilliard (Mary Nell) of Midville, Larry Hilliard (Carolyn) of Collins, and William “Scoot” Hinson of Eastman; Several Nieces and Nephews; Special Neighbor and Friend – Stephanie Trowell of Alma.
