MR. PRENTICE WAYNE ROLAND, age 77, of Dexter, GA, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, with interment in Dexter Baptist Church Cemetery.
Prentice was born in Eastman and later moved to Folkston, GA. He worked for several years at Stephens Enterprise in Folkston before relocating to Dublin, GA. He later worked for Bill Joe’s Industries in Dublin and later worked for Dexter Sportswear for many years. He also worked for Pillow Tech in Hawkinsville before ending his illustrious career with Mohawk Industries. Prentice loved farming, fishing, hunting, especially coon hunting, shooting squirrels, and watching Gunsmoke with his “little buddy” Gavin. He was the son of the late Ann Barlow Byron and Prentice Roland and was preceded in death by his loving Wife of 40 years, Marie Brady Roland, Daughter, Carolyn Roland, Grandson, Stevie Ray Bailey, and Sister, Linda Kay Horton.
He is survived by his 2 Daughters – Shawnda Kay Smith of Eastman and Beverly Lynn Bailey (Jim) of Sanford, FL; 8 Grandchildren – J.B. Bailey, James Bailey, Cole Bailey, Michael Christian, Jacqueline Horton (Roger), Marissa Smith, Gavin Smith, and Dana Smith; 3 Great-Grandchildren – Colton Christian, Krystal Horton, Johnathan Bailey; 2 Sisters – Connie Roland Gibson (Lou) of Charleston, SC and Pat Watson of Dublin; Brother-in-law – David Brady of Folkston; Several Nieces and Nephews.
