MR. PRENTICE CARROLL BURCH, SR., age 72, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, October 17, 2020 at his residence.

 Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, October 20, at Orphans Cemetery, with Dr. Paul Cowles officiating and a special eulogy statement by Rev. Dean Hemphill.

 Prentice was born and raised in Dodge County, a member of Gresston Baptist Church, a 1966 graduate of Dodge County High School, and attended the University of Maryland, Vincennes University, Armstrong State College, and Middle Georgia College. Prentice entered the U.S. Army in 1966. After basic and advanced Infantry Training he went to South Vietnam in July 1967, assigned first to the 173rd Airborne Brigade participating in many war campaigns. Then, in 1968 to the 101st Airborne Division, for the North Vietnam TET Offensive 1968 Campaign. He served his entire tour of duty in South Vietnam in a 6 man team known as long range reconnaissance patrols (LRRPS) deploying throughout South Vietnam. Returning to Ft. Bragg North Carolina, Prentice was assigned with the 82nd Airborne Division in August 1968. His first four years in the army were served as an infantryman. Then he enlisted in 1970 for duty in electronics and computers for the remainder of his active duty service. He was a member of the 75th Ranger battalion in 1979 when he retired from the U.S. Army. He was a computer programmer analyst and web master for Robins AFB for over 25 years, and enjoyed NASCAR, classic cars, watching westerns on T.V., researching family ancestry and genealogy, and traveling in his R.V. with his lovely wife and their 2 Dogs, Holly and Traveler, and Cat, Lola. Prentice was the son of the late Pauline McCranie Burch and William E. Burch and was preceded in death by his Foster Mother, Mrs. Jessie Elkins, Sister, Emma Lou Parkerson, and 3 Brothers, Charles E. Burch, John Benjamin Burch, and Cary D. Burch.

 He is survived by his Wife of 40 years – Carolyn Clements Burch of Eastman; Daughter – Chanda Burch of San Antonio, TX; Son – Prentice Burch, Jr. (Marla) of Hawkinsville; Step-Daughter – Kim Evans of Hauppauge, NY; Step-Son – Jason Evans (Nicole) of McDonough; 4 Grandchildren – Zachary Burch (D.J. Hancock), Prentice Wesley Burch, Coleson Evans, and Izzy Evans; Aunt – Louise Burch Evans of Eastman; Sister-in-law and Brothers-in-law – Carlene Burch of Cordele, David Clements (Tatyana) of Gresston and Danny Clements (Rhonda) of Dexter; Numerous Cousins including 5 double 1st Cousins – Loucenia Burch Burnham Pritchett, Bobby Burch (Liz), Brenda Bryant (Charles), Wayne Burch all of Eastman, and Joyce Burch Nettles of Helena, AL; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the Burch residence, 2996 Cochran Hwy., Eastman. Mr. Burch will lie-in-state at Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home Chapel from 11:00AM-4:00PM Monday, October 19.
