Obituary for Pearl Smith Graham

With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Pearl Graham announces her passing, Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Born on March 27, 1937, in Poplar Bluff, MO, the 7th of 9 children, Pearl was a woman whose life was a testimony of faith, family, and community.

Pearl met the love of her life, Johnny Graham, and together they made their home in Georgia, where they raised their three sons. Much of her time was spent on the ball fields, cheering on her boys, a constant and loving presence with a heart as big as her voice when cheering from the sidelines.

She was a proud member of a bowling league in Stone Mountain for many years, where her competitive spirit and joyful laughter filled every alley. Pearl also spent many years working at The Sport Shoe, where she became a local legend—people knew, “Go buy your tennis shoes from Pearl!” She had a gift for remembering every customer and always treated them like family.

A devout Christian, Pearl was deeply rooted in her Baptist faith. She lived her beliefs every day—through kindness, grace, and the beautiful gospel music she loved. She was a member of a gospel trio that brought comfort and joy to many, singing in churches across the community. Her voice lifted others in praise and will echo in the hearts of those who heard her sing.

Pearl is survived by her loving family, who were the pride and joy of her life: Sons, Terry Graham (Lisa), Larry Graham (Stephanie), and Sammy Graham (Jessica); Grandchildren, Olivia Graham, William Graham, Michael Graham, Zacharey Graham (Mandy), Taylor Graham, and Conner Graham; Great-Grandchildren, Katherine Elaine and Konstantine Alexander.

Her love knew no bounds, and her legacy will live on through each of them. Pearl’s warmth, her laughter, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering faith have left a permanent mark on all who were blessed to know her.

A graveside memorial service, with Rev. Aubrey Corbett officiating, will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Chauncey City Cemetery, where her family and friends will gather to honor her memory with stories, music, and love—just the way she would have wanted. A visitation will be held at Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 10:00AM-11:00AM before the service.

Rest well, Pearl. Your song continues in us.
