Obituary for Mitchell Hemphill

MITCHELL EVAN “MITCH” HEMPHILL, age 65, of Blue Ridge, GA, died Monday, October 24, 2022, at Heritage Hospice in Marietta, GA.

 Graveside services will be held 11:00AM Thursday, October 27, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Mr. John Swinson officiating.

 Mitchell was born in Eastman in 1957 and later moved to Adel, GA in 1963. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and graduated from Cook County High School in Adel in 1975. He later graduated from Valdosta Technical College with a degree in computer programming. He worked as a night auditor for First State Bank in Valdosta for many years, before becoming an officer worker for the Area Planning Commission and later was a driver for Adel Grocery Company for several years. Mitchell enjoyed animals, especially cats, working in his yard, reading, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his Father, Thomas Holman Hemphill, Jr.

 He is survived by his Mother – Margaret Faulk Hemphill of Blue Ridge; Sister – Robbin Hemphill of Blue Ridge; Aunts and Uncles – Gary Faulk (Cathy), Shelby Faulk, Gale Allen, Marie Wright, Jean Hinson, Fran Vaughn (Melton), and Jack Loyd; Several Cousins and Numerous Friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Hemphill residence, 41 Mountain Top Circle, Blue Ridge, GA 30513, and will receive friends in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 9:30AM-10:30AM Thursday, October 27.
