MR. LUTHER MITCHELL HAYNIE, age 74, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Dodge County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, June 19, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Troy Horne and Rev. Dwaine Dunn officiating, with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mitchell was born in Eastman, GA and was of the holiness faith. After graduating from Dodge County High School in 1967, he worked at Reaves Brothers Cotton Mill for several years. He later retired from Mohawk Industries after twenty-five years, where he worked as a machine repairman. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, tennis, watching drag racing, hunting, and being outdoors. Mitchell was the son of the late Leola Jones Haynie and Luther “Mac” Haynie and was preceded in death by a Sister, Sharon Haynie Panter.
He is survived by his Son – Randy Haynie of East Dublin, GA; Sister – Barbara Sheffield of Eastman, GA; Brothers – Kenneth Haynie (Cynthia) and Jesse Haynie, both of Eastman, GA; Nieces and Nephews – Christy Padgett (Bobby), Mike Sheffield (Lori), Scott Sheffield (Robbin), Craig Sheffield (Beth), Tara David (Muhammad), Jennifer Downs (Mike), Kimberly Baker (Johnny), and Richard Haynie; Several Great-Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Barbara Sheffield, 1709 Antioch Church Rd., Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM-11:00AM Wednesday, June 19.
