MR. MICHAEL JEROME “MIKE” WILLIAMSON, age 78, of Cochran, GA, died Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Regency Hospital in Macon, GA.
The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday, August 18. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, August 19, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Todd Crosby and Rev. Doug Stevens officiating.
Mike was born in Eastman on June 25, 1947, to the late Myrtle McDaniel Williamson and Jeff B. Williamson. He was a 1966 graduate of Dodge County High School, and he enlisted in the U.S. Army soon after graduating high school. He was stationed at Redstone Arsenal Military Base in Huntsville, AL, before being deployed in July 1967 to Vietnam, where he spent roughly one year serving his country on foreign soil. He returned to the United States where he married the love of his life, Nancy Poston, in November 1968. The newlyweds then moved to Fort Bragg, NC where Mike finished his military service after three years in the military. The family moved back to Dodge County and made their home in the Roddy Community. They were married for 55 wonderful and blissful years before Nancy’s passing in 2023. Mike first worked for the Georgia Forestry Commission for a few years before becoming an insurance agent for Life of Georgia Insurance Company, where he sold policies for several years. He then took a job at Robins AFB in 1973 and enjoyed a fulfilling career that spanned over 35 years until his retirement in 2001. He then went and worked with ARINC Engineering for 10 years until he retired for good in 2012. Mike was a member of Eastman First Baptist Church, enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed tending to his yard and managing his pine and pecan tree farms. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 55 years, Nancy Jane Poston Williamson, daughter, Wendy Williamson, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mae Roy Rozar Poston and James L. Poston, brothers-in-law, Grayson Moore and Johnny Peacock, and nephew, Darrin Peacock.
He is survived by his Wife – Beverly Lister Williamson of Cochran; Son – Wes Williamson (Brandi) of Eastman; Bonus Daughters – Amy Mimbs (Mark) of Cochran and Wendy Meinert of Monroe; Grandchildren – Laik Williamson of Eastman, Brianna Pittman (Chris), and Brent Mimbs both of Cochran; Great-Grandchildren – Emma, Hannah, Avery, and Abigail, all of Cochran; Sisters – Linda Gayle Peacock of Eastman and Patty Moore of Moultrie; Sister-in-law – Carol Giddens (Dennis) of Eastman; Nieces and Nephews – Brent Giddens (Rachel), Marci Peacock, both of Eastman, Robbie Moore (Shana) of Moultrie, and Paige Moore Reber (Randy) of Viroqua, WI; Several Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews; Special Friends – Bonnie and John Stickney of Eastman, and Jackie Fields of Cochran; Special Canine Companions – Sam and Bo.
