MIKE EVANS, age 71, of Eastman, GA, was born on December 10, 1952, and passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Bleckley Memorial Hospital in Cochran, GA, after an extended illness. He graduated from Dodge County High School, Class of 1970, and was co-owner and operator of Evans Grocery and Market until 1991. He retired from the Eastman Post Office after 32 years as a Rural Letter Carrier and was a proud member of the USPS Million Mile Club. He was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church and was actively involved until he was no longer able.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Herbert Evans.
He is survived by his Wife of 42 years – Bonnie Smith Evans of Eastman, GA; Daughter – Kim Evans of New Bern, NC; Son – Jason Evans and his Wife, Nicole, and their Children, Coleson Evans and Isabelle Evans, all of McDonough, GA; Mother – Louise Burch Evans of Eastman, GA; Sister – Gail Evans Holmes of Eastman, GA; Brother – Randy Evans, and his Wife, Sue, of Cumming, GA; Niece and Nephew – April Holmes Sheffield, and her Husband, Mark of Eastman, GA and Will Evans of Atlanta, GA; Special Sister-in-love – Cindy Smith Shelton of Cochran, GA; Numerous Cousins and Friends.
The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 5:00PM-7:00PM Friday, October 4. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, October 5, at Zebulon Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Wilbanks and Rev. Daniel Folds officiating, with interment in Orphans Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made in Mike’s memory to Zebulon Baptist Church, P.O. Box 5062, Eastman, GA 31023.
