Obituary for Mickey Howell

MR. MICHAEL MICKEY HOWELL, age 70, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Eastman Trails of Journey Nursing Home in Eastman.

 A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mickey was born on March 8, 1956, in Jacksonville, FL. He was a 1973 graduate of Dodge County High School. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, affectionately known as “Uncle Mickey”. He was a painter for over 50 years working in the family business, Howell Brothers Painting. Mickey loved painting houses, working on cars, grilling, junking and fishing, especially catching catfish. He always enjoyed spending quality time with his grandson, Derrick. He was a proud grandfather, and he will be forever missed. Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. Howell and Susie Strickland Howell, and 7 siblings, Gene Howell, Gerald Howell, Stevie Howell, Susan Chapman, Willene Carrigg, Judy May Brown, and Jo Dunn, parents-in-law, Doyle Vester Yawn and Margierene Sheffield Yawn, several in-laws including a brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Yawn.

 He is survived by his Wife of 51 years – Florenda Yawn Howell of Eastman; Daughter – Laurie Ann Howell of Eastman; Grandson – Derrick Howell of Eastman; Brother – Rev. Tony Howell (Jewel) of Eastman; Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law – Barbara Howell of Rhine, Darlene Brown (Charles), Karen Yawn, Janet Ward, William Yawn (Ruby), Raymond Yawn, Derrell Yawn, and Ricky Yawn (Sheila), all of Eastman; Numerous, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

 The family may be contacted at the residence of Charles and Darlene Brown, 235 14th Ave., Eastman, GA 31023. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his memory to Gideons International Bible Fund.
