MRS. MAVIS ELIZABETH SPIRES McCRANIE, age 74, of Roswell, NM, formerly of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at her residence in Roswell, NM.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, August 3, at Fair Haven Baptist Church, with Mr. Gary Ryals, with interment in Fair Haven Church Cemetery.

 Mavis was born and raised in Milan and later moved to Macon with her family, where she graduated from Bibb County High School in 1966. She worked for many years with the Georgia Department of Labor and retired after many years of service as a supervisor. Mavis was a devout Elvis Presley Fan, who also loved spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with them. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips to the beach with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to the mountains with her good friend Ruby Jean Cannington and enjoyed watching gospel singings programs on TV. She was a dedicated member of Fair Haven Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, helped with Vacation Bible School for many years, and was a longtime Girls in Action leader. Mavis was the daughter of the late Willie Mae Berry Spires and Dessau Spires, Sr., and was preceded in death by her Husband, John David “Pops” McCranie, Son, Russell Godfrey, Sister, Frances Spires Dykes, and Brother, Dessau Spires, Jr.

 She is survived by her 2 Sons – Claude Godfrey of Eastman and Clint McCranie (Rae) of Roswell, NM; 2 Daughters-in-law – Angelita Godfrey and Cerese Godfrey, both of Eastman; 8 Grandchildren – Brandy Godfrey Curiel (Pedro), Rachel Spires, Kelly Godfrey Berthiaume (Mike), Bryant Godfrey (Kaci), Sabrina Godfrey Covington (Kris), Addisyn McCranie, John-David McCranie, and Samuel McCranie; 7 Great-Grandchildren – Amelia Godfrey, Riley Spires, Rhett Spires, Georgia Spires, Ansleigh Graham, Zander Giddens, and Vairah Godfrey; Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law – June Dupree (Josie), Patricia Jones (Emmett), Dottie Rogers (Larry), Grady McCranie, E.D. McCranie (Joyce), Chip McCranie (Ramona), Geraldine McCranie, and Beth McCranie; Extended Family Members – Toby Godfrey, Frances Bryant, and Ethan Bryant, all of Tennessee; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the McCranie residence, 1040 Hightower Rd., Eastman, and will receive friends in Fair Haven Baptist Church from 10:00AM-11:00AM Wednesday, August 3. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Fair Haven Baptist Church, Fair Haven Church Rd., Eastman, GA 31023.
