Mark Shane Stephens, died November 18, 2007. He was born December 26, 1960, to Bill Stephens and Rebena (Thompson) Stephens in Little Rock, Arkansas. His young years were spent in Hot Springs and Macon, Georgia. In 1971, the family moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where Mark graduated from high school and attended Chattanooga State Community College. He worked for his parents in their family business. Mark was a member of Central Baptist Church in Chattanooga.

Mark Shane Stephens, died November 18, 2007. He was born December 26, 1960, to Bill Stephens and Rebena (Thompson) Stephens in Little Rock, Arkansas. His young years were spent in Hot Springs and Macon, Georgia. In 1971, the family moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where Mark graduated from high school and attended Chattanooga State Community College. He worked for his parents in their family business. Mark was a member of Central Baptist Church in Chattanooga.

Mark was proceeded in death by his father William C. Stephens; his uncles: Ensign Thomas W. Stephens, Robert L. Stephens and James F. Stephens; his aunt, Rose Marie Thompson; and stepfather, Joseph W. Graham. His grandparents were: Lewis and Hallie (Faucette) Stephens of Hot Springs and Sherrod B. and Melvena (White) Thompson of Russellville, Arkansas. Mark’s great-grandparents were J.P. and Emma (Hogins) Faucette of North Little Rock.

Mark was proud to be a descendant of prominent families in the early years of Arkansas’s history. Mr. Faucette was known as Big Jim - the father of Argenta. He served as mayor of North Little Rock from 1910 - 1915. During his terms, much progress was made in the city, and his service was honored with the naming of Faucette Park, along the Arkansas River, in North Little Rock. He and his partner started a private bank in 1901 which would later become the Twin City Bank. Mr. Faucette was responsible for many improvements in the city, including being influential in the changing of the name from Argenta back to North Little Rock. His wife Emma was the daughter of the first settlers of Pope County.

When Mark passed away in 2007, he was survived by his mother, Rebena (Thompson) Graham. He was also survived by his brothers, Jim (Sharon) Lewis of Chattanooga, Joe (Cydney) Graham of Atlanta and sisters, Mary Skaggs of Hot Springs, Sally Graham of Atlanta, Sandra (Dave) Anness of Milledgeville, Georgia, Sheila (Larry) Williams of Cairo, Georgia and Dianah (Johnny) Smith of Fort Valley, Georgia. Mark was also survived by his mother’s twin sister, Shervena Grubbs of Hot Springs and his twin uncles Sherrod B. (Judy) Thompson of Hot Springs Fred B. (Lynda) Thompson of San Marcos, California. He was also survived by several cousins in Arkansas, Georgia and California.

Mark enjoyed cooking, reading, listening to music, and spending time with his shelties. He was an organ donor through A.R.O.R.A. Gross Funeral Home arranged a funeral service for Mark in 2007. Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home is arranging a celebration of life service on Oct. 25, 2025. The family will gather at Southerland Funeral Chapel from 10:00AM to 10:30AM to receive family and friends. A celebration of life service will follow at 10:30AM in the chapel, with Elder Larry Williams officiating.
