MRS. MARIA EUGENIA QUINTANILLA SAPP, age 91, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.
 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, January 21, at St. Mark Catholic Church, with Father Jacob Almeter officiating, with interment in Antioch #1 Cemetery in Eastman.
 Maria was born in La Paz, Bolivia, South America and graduated from a Catholic Boarding School in Argentina, where she was fluent in seven languages. After school, she worked as a translator for the American Embassy in La Paz, Bolivia, where she met her husband who was stationed in South America with his Marine Corp Unit. They married in 1956 and moved shortly after to Columbia, South America for several years before moving back to Bolivia and later moving to Camp Lejeune, South Carolina in the early 1960s. After her husband retired from service, they moved back to his hometown of Eastman, GA. Mrs. Sapp became a United States Citizen around this time and from the late 1960s till now, she made Eastman her home and raised her family. Maria was a homemaker and for several years during the 1980s she worked as a bookkeeper for PJ’s Texaco. She was a dedicated and loving wife of 34 years and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Maria enjoyed music and dancing, flowers, cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and helping with alterations at Dixie Cleaners. She loved life itself and made sure to live it to its fullest. She was a founding and dedicated member of St. Mark Catholic Church. She was the daughter of the late Mercedez Zuazo Quintanilla and Julio Quintanilla and was preceded in death by her Husband, Austin Sapp, Sr., 2 Grandsons, Frederick Koernig and Stephen Sapp, and 13 Siblings.
 She is survived by her 5 Children – Catherine Sapp Vaughn (Jimmy), Stephanie Sapp, both of Eastman, Greg Sapp (Debbie) of Brunswick, Austin Sapp, Jr. (Dena) of Suwannee, and Patrick Sapp (Jill Hardin) of Hawkinsville; 8 Grandchildren – Nicole Koernig Barnett (Justin), Phillip Sapp (Chandler), Julia Sapp, Patrick Sapp, Jr., Alexandra Sapp, Elizabeth Sapp, Caroline Sapp, and Mary Austin Sapp; 3 Great-Grandchildren – Frederick Kai Barnett, James Ford Barnett, and Wrenley Tate Syron; Sister-in-law – Shirley Sapp of Macon; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
