MRS. MARGARET ALICE CLARK PARKERSON, age 98, of Eastman GA, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 18, 2026, after an extended health decline.
MRS. MARGARET ALICE CLARK PARKERSON, age 98, of Eastman GA, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 18, 2026, after an extended health decline.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in Southerland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Paul Cowles and Rev. Terry Ross officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Parkerson was born on July 9, 1927 (Some records indicate 1926) near the rural community of Jaybird Springs in Dodge County, GA. Her parents were Thurston Lee Clark (1902 – 1930) and Janie Ruth Ryals Clark (1901 – 1928), both born in Mongomery County GA. Both her parents died at a very young age, leaving her and her older sister Sarah Elise Fowler to be taken in and raised by their grandparents, Sarah Ann Elizabeth Harrelson Clark and John Walter Knox Clark, until their deaths in 1941 and 1940 respectively. She and her sister Elise attended school in Glenwood, GA during that time. Elise married, leaving Margaret who was taken in by her aunt Noni and uncle Jack Ryals of Telfair County, and she lived with them until her marriage to the late James Caulion Parkerson (1918 – 1988) in May 1946. Among life’s pleasures she enjoyed taking care of her family and tending the flowers in her yard. She was a devout Christian Lady and a member of New Union Baptist Church.
She is survived by 2 Sons - James Clark Parkerson (Kay) of Perry, GA and Kenneth Caulion Parkerson (Robin) of Macon, GA; 4 Grandchildren - Amy Parkerson of Cotati, CA, Shawn Parkerson (Jim Kinsella) of Chicago, IL, Chris Parkerson (Jeff) of Kingsland, WA and Danielle Ross (Terry) of Bridgewater, VA; 3 Great-Grandchildren - Cole Parker Murphy of Cotati, CA, C J Ross and Sierra Ross, both of Bridgewater, VA; Many Nieces, Nephews and Numerous Cousins.
The family wishes to acknowledge the tremendous assistance provided by Georgia Hospice Care. Her nurses and aids provided invaluable around-the-clock care and comfort during the last weeks of her life. Thanks to Amy Cochran, Jennifer Widener, Casey Mason, Jackqueline Miner, Sarah Johnson, Veola Chambers, Gail Lemmon, Nicole Austin, Melanie Dixon, Kimberly Brown, Rachel Basley, and Katina Basley. Special thanks to Casey who arranged the care schedule and provided special care to Mrs. Parkerson in her last days. Kimberly Harvey, our hospice social worker, provided us with an abundance of help and information through our entire hospice experience.
