MRS. LUDOWIKA KRESS WHITTLE, age 89, of Cochran, GA, formerly of Eastman, GA, died Monday, February 22, 2021 at At Home Senior Living in Cochran.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, February 24, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Wayne McDaniel officiating.

Mrs. Whittle was born in Munich, Germany and was raised there through her formative years. She met her husband during World War II while he was stationed in Germany and moved with him to the United States to begin her family. She moved several times during her husband’s career in the U.S. Air Force and worked diligently as a homemaker. They settled and made Eastman their home in the 1960s until moving to the Bob Hope Village in Shalmar, Florida in 2011. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eastman, served as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and was a hospital auxiliary pink lady for many years. She was an avid gardener and loved keeping her yard immaculate. She enjoyed annual trips back home to Germany to visit with her family, and she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “Granny”. She was the daughter of the late Christine Kress and Ludwick Kress, widow of Fred Whittle, and was preceded in death by a Son, Rolland Whittle.

She is survived by her 3 Daughters – Angela Butler (Darrell) of Eastman, Peggy Stuckey of Atlanta, and Linda Hanke (Ralph) of Acworth; Son – James Whittle of Atlanta; 4 Grandchildren – Justin Butler (Shelly), Jared Butler, both of Eastman, Brad Stuckey of Atlanta and Zachary Whittle of Milledgeville; 3 Great-Grandchildren – Dawson Butler, Bryson Butler and Jameson Butler; Brother-in-law – Ruben Whittle of Eastman.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Justin and Shelly Butler, 50 Highland Cove Drive, Eastman, GA 31023. In lieu of all flowers, the family requests contributions to First Presbyterian Church, 5334 Oak St, Eastman, GA 31023.
