MRS. LUCY ELISE CHASTEEN BAKER, age 83, of Macon, GA, formerly of Eastman, GA, died Friday, May 7, 2021 at her residence in Macon.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, May 15, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Mike Stokes officiating, with interment in Chauncey City Cemetery.

 Lucy was born in Chauncey, a 1955 graduate and former Chauncey Comets basketball player at Chauncey High School, attended Grady Nursing School, and later completed her RN degree at Macon Junior College in 1994. She left school and began working for the Dodge County Board of Education as a bookkeeper under the leadership of Ed McCranie, L.D. Bowen, and Dahl McDermitt, Sr. She later went to work for the Dodge County Hospital for many years as a bookkeeper. She and her husband, David Rawlins, Sr., lived and raised their family in Dodge County for many years, before she started a new life and career in Macon, where she retired in 2006 from Robins AFB. Lucy was a member of the Dodge County Saddle Club, where she competed and won numerous trophies and awards, and was a member of Morning Side Baptist Church in Macon. She also enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles, gardening, and working in her yard, where it brought her great joy to work and make her yard and home beautiful. She was the daughter of the late Jeanette Jones Chasteen and T.F. “Sam” Chasteen, widow of John Baker, and was preceded in death by a Grandson, Shepherd Lucas, and 2 Siblings, Kendell Chasteen and Toby C. Harmon.

 She is survived by her 2 Daughters – Dianne R. Roberts of Flowery Branch and Judy R. Gainer of Young Harris, GA; Son – James David “Dave” Rawlins, Jr. (Nadja) of Hanahan, SC; 3 Grandchildren – Austin Rawlins of Eastman, Dennis Rawlins of Hanahan, SC, and Jenny Lucas of Everett, WA; 2 Great-Grandchildren – Dailey Rawlins and Emma Miller; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Saturday, May 15. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Morning Side Baptist Church, 3519 Jeffersonville Rd, Macon, GA 31217.
