Obituary for Louise Flanders Hilliard

MRS. ILA LOUISE FLANDERS HILLIARD, age 95, of Rhine, GA, died Saturday, September 19, 2020 at McRae Manor Nursing Home in McRae.

 Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM Monday, September 21, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Rhine, with Rev. Bill Jones officiating.

 Mrs. Hilliard was born in Dodge County, a graduate of Rhine High School and a dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Hilliard was a homemaker early in life and later enjoyed a career in bookkeeping. She worked several jobs over the years, first as the office manager for C&J Manufacturing then later as an insurance clerk at Dodge County Hospital and retired as a bookkeeper at the Dodge County Board of Education. For many years she assisted her husband as co-owner and operator at the family business, Hilliard Brothers Grocery in Rhine. She was a woman of strong faith and served the Lord as a church worker and Sunday school teacher. She loved her family and was “The World’s Best Grandmother.” Mrs. Hilliard was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed working with crafts. She lived in Rhine until 1997 when she moved to Warwick to be near her family. Louise is the daughter of the late Hansel Flanders and Ila Lowery Flanders, widow of V.C. Hilliard, preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amy Hilliard, 6 siblings, Elizabeth Flanders Walker, Charles Flanders, Ray Flanders, Larry Flanders, and Russell Flanders, sister-in-law, Nell Hilliard Williams, brothers-in-law, Roy Hilliard, Talmadge Hilliard, Stan Hilliard, Ray Hilliard, June Hilliard, Dalt Hilliard and their wives.

             Survivors include: 2 Sons – Cliff “Buck” Hilliard (Jennie) of Warwick and Van Hilliard (Sue) of Dacula; 2 Grandsons – Sam Hilliard of Warwick and Wes Hilliard of Dallas, TX; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
