MRS. LINDA ESTES SOUTHERLAND, age 75, of Chester, died Monday, February 5, 2024, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, GA.

Funeral services will be held at Southerland Funeral Chapel at 2:00PM, Friday, February 9, 2024, with Rev. Craig Minor officiating, with interment in Pleasant Olive Cemetery in Chester, GA.

Mrs. Southerland was born in Chester, GA, a member of Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church, and a 1966 graduate of Dodge County High School, where she excelled at basketball. Her team was a 1966 State Championship winner under Coach Bob Davis. She received her associate degree in Secretarial Science at Middle Georgia College and worked as an Administrative Secretary for Eastman Youth Developmental Center for ten years. She also worked as a legal secretary for Wilton Harrington Law Firm for several years, Will A Burch Law Firm for twenty years, and served as a project manager for Heart of Georgia Community Action Council in the 1970s. Linda was a dedicated mother and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who was an avid sports enthusiast, and loved Atlanta Braves baseball, UGA football, and local sporting events. She was the daughter of the late Mable Long Estes and Woodrow W. Estes and was preceded in death by her former Husband, Larry E. Southerland, Sister, Nora Estes Ross, and Brother, James H. Estes.

She is survived by her Daughters – Dr. Sheila Southerland (David White) of Cordele, GA and Renè Southerland Hines (Cliff) of Chester, GA; Son – Bryan Southerland of Chester, GA; Grandchildren – Jordan White, Kara White, Lizzie Southerland (Hunter Cranford), Autumn Batay, Summer Smith, Oscar Hines, Clay Hines, and Gracie Hines; Great-Grandchildren – Katelee Cranford and Kayden Cranford; Several Nieces and Nephews.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Renè and Cliff Hines, 311 Montgomery Street, Chester, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Thursday, February 8.
