LINDA SUE FLOYD JOHNSON, age 79, of Williamston, SC, formerly of Eastman, GA, died Saturday August 31, 2024, at Hospice of the Upstate- Rainey House in Anderson, SC.

​Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Wednesday September 4, 2024, at Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Hurte officiating.

​Linda was born in Plainfield, GA in Dodge County on January 27, 1945. She was a 1963 graduate of Dodge County High School. After graduation, Linda went to work for C&J Manufacturing Company, the “shirt factory” in Eastman. Not long after, she had an employment opportunity at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA. Her successful career as a civil service employee spanned 42 years. She spoke often of how “God blessed her for so many years with a job that she loved on the Air Force base.” She retired as a GS 12 Production Management Specialist. Linda was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and sister who was affectionally known as “Grandma” to her grandchildren. She loved chocolate ice cream, doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching TV. Her favorite shows were The Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke. One of her favorite things to say was, “you’ve just got to take one step at a time.” In 2003, she became a member of Zebulon Baptist Church in Eastman, where she will be laid to rest. Linda was the daughter of the late Hesterine Allen Floyd and Walter Hershel Floyd.

​She is survived by her Daughter – Wanda S. Gwyn (Kenneth) of Gulfport, MS; Sons – Jerry R. Sheffield (Kimberly) of Williamston, SC and Jimmy M. Sheffield of Fort Walton Beach, FL; 6 Grandchildren – Kristen Jones (Chad) of Milan, GA, Cullen Sheffield of Warner Robins, GA, Racheal Sheffield of Williamston, SC, Stephanie Childers and Jason Childers, both of Marion, NC, and Mackenzie Sheffield of Fort Walton Beach, FL; 5 Great Grandchildren – Chanleigh Sheffield of Warner Robins, GA, Karson Jones, Olivia Jones, and Addison Jones, all of Milan, GA and Avery Jones of Marion, NC; Sister – Ann F. Bracewell (Leslie) of Eastman, GA; Brother – Walter E. “Buddy” Floyd (Jane) of Warner Robins, GA; Several Nieces and Nephews.

​The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:30PM-2:30PM Wednesday September 4, 2024.
