MRS. LESSIE HULETT PITTMAN, age 87, of Rhine, GA, died Monday, July 10, 2023, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, July 12, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ricky Gilmore and Rev. Roy Williams officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine, GA.
Lessie was born and raised in the China Hill Community of Telfair County. She was a high school graduate and a dedicated member of Rhine Baptist Church. She married in 1955 and raised three wonderful sons. She worked for several years at Rodenwear and later for Roper Manufacturing. She was a dedicated wife of over 25 years and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed traveling around the world and was an avid church worker. Lessie loved her church and was a devout Christian lady. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with her friends. She was the daughter of the late Irene McLeod Hulett and Hawkins Hulett and was preceded in death by her Husband, Bobby Ray Pittman, Sr., Son, Willie Oscar Pittman, and 5 Siblings, Oscar “Mann” Hulett, Lurene Hulett, Thomas “Teet” Hulett, Ida Mae Williamson, and A.J. “Tenny” Hulett.
She is survived by her 2 Sons – Joey Pittman (Melinda) of Warner Robins, GA and Bobby Ray Pittman, Jr. of Eastman, GA; Grandchildren – Robert Pittman (Amy) of Dallas, GA, Brandi Ellingham (Brian) of Perry, GA, Grant Pittman (Brandi), and Michelle White (Jesse), both of Eastman, GA; Great-Grandchildren – Joseph Pittman, Hannah Kate Ellingham, Dalton White, Jessa Rae White, Chance White, Hailey Pittman, and Gunner Pittman; Brother - Gerald Hulett (Shirley) of Bowling Green, KY; Sisters-in-law and Brother-in-law – Mutt Hulett of Jacksonville, GA, Betty Hulett, and Catherine Hulett, both of Rhine, GA; Several Nieces and Nephews.
The family may be contacted at the Pittman residence, 188 First Street, Rhine, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, July 11. In addition to flowers, the family would prefer contributions to Rhine Baptist Church.
