MS. LEA ANNA BAILEY, age 50, of Chester, GA, died Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Dodge County Hospital.

 A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, October 21, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Sterling Averett officiating.

 Lea was born in Dublin, GA and was raised in Chester, Ga. She was of the Baptist Faith and a 1991 honor graduate at Dodge County High School. She received her associate degree from Middle Georgia College and graduated from Mercer University with a master’s degree in education. Ms. Bailey taught English at Peach County High School before moving to Savannah in 1998 where she taught for many years at Liberty County High School in Hinesville, GA. She then returned home to Chester, GA in 2018. She was a beloved Language Arts teacher at Dodge County High School, where she was the Literary Coordinator and was involved with One Act Play. She served on the Chester City Council since 2019. Lea was a loving daughter, devoted sister, and a beloved aunt to her nephew, Jackson. Lea enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always fun and quick with praise and a laugh. She had an extraordinary zest for life. She loved music, was an avid reader, and appreciated the arts.

 She is survived by her Mother – Elaine Moore Bailey of Piedmont, AL; Father – Charles A. Bailey of Cochran, GA; Companion – Charles Kelly Pike of Chester, GA; Brother – Charles A. Bailey II (Molly) of Piedmont, AL; Nephew – Charles Jackson Bailey of Piedmont, AL; Aunt – Mary Shephard Bailey of Tampa, FL; Uncle – Toby Moore (Elaine) of Greenwood, SC; Canine Companion – Uncle Remus; Numerous Cousins and Friends.
