MRS. VARA KEMPLE WESTBROOK SPIRES, age 82, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Bryant Nursing Home in Cochran, GA.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00PM Sunday, April 16, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Myron Parkerson officiating.
Kemple was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of Cottondale Baptist Church, and a 1959 graduate of Dodge County High School. She worked at Reaves Brothers Inc. for over 20 years before working for the Dodge County Board of Education as a lunchroom aide for over 14 years. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Kemple was the daughter of the late Flara Barlow Westbrook and Olan C. Westbrook and was preceded in death by her Daughter-in-law, Carol Spires, and Brother - Phillip “Phil” Westbrook.
She is survived by her Husband – Juarl Spires of Eastman; Daughter – Kori S. Kennedy (Brett) of Rhine; Son – Mike Spires (Diane) of Eastman; 7 Grandchildren – Eric Spires (Dana), Victoria Tedders (J.T.), Hannah Hilliard, Josh McCranie, Austin Roberson, Kady Lee Peterson, and Kali Peterson; Several Great-Grandchildren; 3 Sisters – Demple Dunn, Judy Allen (Furman), both of Eastman, and Carolyn Attaway (S.J.) of Chauncey; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Mike Spires, 2188 Cochran Hwy., Eastman, and will receive friends following the graveside service on Sunday, April 16.
