MRS. KATHLEEN UNDERWOOD RUTLAND, age 80, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, January 17, 2022, at Serenity Place Hospice in Dublin, GA.

 Memorial services will be held at 3:00PM Wednesday, January 19, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Daniel Cook, Rev. Matt Rutland, and Rev. Jack Lee officiating.

 Kathleen was born in Savannah, GA and raised in Dublin, where she was a 1959 graduate of Dublin High School. After high school, she attended Middle Georgia College, where she obtained her associates degree in business. She married in 1962 to the love of her life that culminated in a marriage that lasted almost 60 years. She worked numerous jobs over the years, including working alongside her husband through several business endeavors including Wall Tire, Inc. Kathleen was a member of Antioch #2 Baptist Church in Milan, a dedicated wife, a loving mother, and Nana to her family. She enjoyed reading, traveling, family gatherings, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Eastman Garden Club for many years. Kathleen was the daughter of the late Eunice Weathers Underwood and Osley Edward “Speck” Underwood and was preceded in death by her Brother, Mickey Underwood.

 She is survived by her Husband of 60 years – Benny Rutland of Eastman; Daughter – Teresa Rutland of Boston, MA; 2 Sons – Rev. Matt Rutland (Cherie) of Douglas and Greg Rutland (Dawn) of Cochran; 6 Grandchildren – Devin Rutland of Chicago, IL, Jonathan Rutland, Claire Rutland, both of Douglas, Sara Stubbs (Jeremy) of Dahlonega, GA, Ben Rutland of San Diego, CA, and Chase Rutland of Cochran; 2 Great-Grandchildren – Ruby Kathleen Stubbs and Daniel Stubbs; Several Nieces and Nephews; Special Family Friend – Sandra Lackey Peaden Smith of Fayetteville, GA.

 The family may be contacted at the Rutland residence, 918 7th Avenue, Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM Wednesday, January 19. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
