MRS. KAREN ELIZABETH McKINNEY YAWN, age 84, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, October 20, 2023, at her residence.

 Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Monday, October 23, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Jerry Peele officiating, with interment in Orphans Cemetery.

 Karen was born in Hawkinsville, a 1957 graduate of Pulaski County High School, and later attended Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. She married the love of her life in 1959 and moved to Eastman, GA, where she was a member of Eastman First Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class. She was a medical records librarian at Dodge County Hospital for several years, and was also the owner and operator of Springhouse Estate Sales where she enjoyed helping others with their estate liquidations. She was an expert homemaker and a great Christian example for her family. Karen was a dedicated wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was active in PTO and the Eastman Garden Club for many years. She was a person of deep faith and loved her church dearly. She sang in the choir for decades, was active with handbells, and was a children’s choir director for many years. She was the daughter of the late Modena Carter McKinney and George Berner McKinney.

 She is survived by her Husband – Gary E. Yawn of Eastman; Daughter – Laura Yawn Lowe (Kevin) of Evans, GA; Granddaughter – Mary Elizabeth Lowe of Athens, GA; Brother-in-law – Dwight Yawn (Brenda) of Eastman, GA; Nephew – David Yawn (Tina) of Eastman, GA; Great-Niece and Nephew – Caleb Yawn (Mallory) and Abbie Perdue (Jonathan); Great-Great-Niece and Nephew – Hudson Yawn and Callan Perdue; Several Cousins and Numerous Friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Yawn residence, 1126 Wood Valley Drive, Eastman, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM Monday, October 23.
