MR. JOHN “JUNIOR” BROWN, age 85, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his wife and family, after a long illness.

MR. JOHN “JUNIOR” BROWN, age 85, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his wife and family, after a long illness.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, May 31, at Gresston Baptist Church, with Rev. Chuck Beaver, Dr. Paul Cowles, and Dr. Donnie Sutton officiating, with interment in Bowers Cemetery in Empire, GA.

 Junior was born in Dublin, GA on November 12, 1939, to the late Minnie Pearl Oxley Brown and Edward Brown. In 1955, he went to work at the Eastman Cotton Mill, at the age of 15, as a doffer in the spinning room, and continued to work at the Cotton Mill until 1966. He was drafted in 1963 into the U.S. Army and served two years before later serving in the National Guard for over ten years. In 1973, he graduated from the Dodge County Veterans School, which he attended while he was a member of the National Guard. Later, in 1966, he left the Cotton Mill to work at Robins AFB as a civil service employee in the avionics department for over 30 years. He was a member of Gresston Baptist Church, was a dedicated husband, and a loving father, and grandfather. He was an avid antique automobile enthusiast and enjoyed riding in the Model A car. Junior was a master woodworker and could build anything. He designed, and with the help of his brothers, he built his own home, with his own hands. He was affectionately known as “Pa Paw” to his grandson. Along with his parents, Junior was preceded in death by Sister, Grace Ellen Brown Thompson, and Brother, Jerry Brown.

 He is survived by his Wife of 67 years – Bertie Faye Singletary Brown of Eastman, GA; Son – Richard Brown (Jeanette) of Buford, GA; Grandson – Jonathan Louis Brown of Savannah, GA; Brothers – Jimmy Lee Brown (Ethel) of Eastman, GA, Gene Edward Brown (Betty), and William Derrell Brown (Sue), both of Gresston, GA; Nieces and Nephews – Jeanine Hall (Matthias), Zelda Lee, Jennifer Brown Lee, Cathy Fennell (Jim), William Brown (Kimberly), Gail Sheffield (Lisa Miller), Ross Thompson, Eddie Thompson, David Brown (Jennifer), Tammy Elizalde (Steven), John Singletary (Cindy), and Brad Singletary (Mandy); Several Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law including, Sally Fowler (Gerald) of Sycamore, GA; Aunt – Polly Oxley of Gresston, GA; Numerous cousins and friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Brown residence, 4511 Cochran Hwy., Eastman, GA, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Friday, May 30. In addition to flowers, the family requests contributions to Gresston Baptist Church, 1444 Gresston Baptist Rd, Eastman, GA 31023.

 The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful staff of Carol’s Caring Home Health Service and Compassus Hospice in Dublin, GA for the excellent care they provided for Junior during these last several months.
