MR. JOHN L. HINSON, age 87, of Eastman, GA, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Dodge County Hospital.

 Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, December 28, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Dwayne Burney officiating.

 Mr. Hinson was born in Chester and was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving 4 years in service and assisted maintenance for the Thunderbirds demonstration flight team for several years. John married in July 1958 and moved to Orlando, FL in January 1959 beginning a 41-year career as a welder for Martin Marietta Orlando. He and his wife raised their family there and made many memories during their years in Florida. They moved back to Dodge County in the year 2000 and lived in Eastman for the past 20 years. Mr. Hinson was a dedicated husband and a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and watching wrestling and RFD TV. He also enjoyed fishing in his boat after work during his days back in Orlando. During his retirement years he enjoyed providing housing and watching the Purple Martins that came every year to his back yard. John was the son of the late Rosa Belle Horne Hinson and Columbus L. Hinson and was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Danny Barnes and 4 siblings, Dock Hinson, Ollie B. Hinson, Eva Hinson Donnan, and Nora Lee Hinson.

 He is survived by his wife of 62 years – Maggie Jean Faulk Hinson of Eastman; Daughter – Angela Hinson Barnes of Ball Ground; 3 Grandchildren – Kyle Barnes of Lawrenceville, Jason Barnes of Buford, and Kaleigh Barnes of Orlando, FL; Brother – Larry Hinson of Cochran; 4 Sisters-in-law – Marie Wright of Dublin, Margaret Hemphill of Blue Ridge, Fran Vaughn (Melton) of Eastman, and Gayle Allen of Byron; 2 Brothers-in-law – Gary Faulk (Cathy) of Eastman and Jack Lloyd of Hawkinsville; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 Mr. Hinson will lie-in-state from 1:00PM – 3:00PM Sunday, December 27 in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home. In addition to flowers the family request contributions to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate
