MR. JAMES WILLIAM “JIM” BLOODWORTH, age 88, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, July 19, 2024, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held at 9:00AM Monday, July 22, at St. Mark Catholic Church, with Father John Stephen Ariko officiating.
Jim was born in the China Hill Community of Telfair County to the late Gladys Hurst Bloodworth and James Joseph Bloodworth. He and his family later moved to Eastman, GA and graduated from Eastman High School in 1953. After high school he left Dodge County to visit his sister in Michigan and ended up making Michigan his home for the next 45 years. While living in Michigan, met the love of his life, Leda, and they enjoyed 68 wonderful years together. During this time, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and faithfully served his duty to his country at a missile site in Connecticut. Jim worked for Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company in Michigan as a meat department manager for over 45 years and retired in 1996. In 1998, he and Leda moved back to the community he left so many years ago. He was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Eastman, GA. He enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and Canada with his wife, and in his earlier years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his 8 Siblings, Raymond Bloodworth, Homer Bloodworth, Margie Nell Shepherd, Martha Lou Swinson, Maggie Sue Sheffield, Cornelia Butler, Jeanette Ray, and Lois Kilpela.
He is survived by his Wife – Leda Blanche Michal Bloodworth of Eastman, GA; Daughter – Cynthia Hilliard (David) of Donalsonville, GA; Son – Edward Bloodworth (Victoria) of New Baltimore, MI; Grandchildren – Clayton Hilliard (Tiffany), Jessie Hilliard, Samuel Hilliard, James “Jimmy” Bloodworth, and Paige Bloodworth; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family may be contacted at the Bloodworth residence, 5441 Pine Drive, Eastman, GA, and will receive friends in St. Mark Catholic Church following the services on Monday, July 22.
