MRS. JANIS “JAN” HARPER JOHNSON, age 61, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, June 1, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Myron Parkerson officiating, with interment in Cottondale Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jan was born and raised in Macon, GA, was a graduate of Northeast High School in Macon, and later studied cosmetology. She was the best homemaker ever and was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt who was affectionately called “Nana” by her granddaughter. She attended Freedom Worship Center and enjoyed painting, cross stitching, and all sorts of arts and crafts. Jan was the daughter of the late Delores Collins Harper and Bobby Ray Harper and was preceded in death by her Father-in-law, Lamar Johnson, Sister-in-law, Sue Giddens, Brother-in-law, Merle Johnson, and Nephew, Matthew Johnson.
She is survived by her Husband of 33 years – Cecil Johnson of Eastman, GA; 3 Sons – Eric Payne, Royce Payne, and Chris Johnson (Megan Alford), all of Eastman, GA; Granddaughter – Allie Alford; Brothers – Jimmy Giddens of Bloomingdale, GA and Johnny Giddens (Phyllis) of Gray, GA; Mother-in-law – Louise Howell Johnson of Eastman, GA; Sister-in-law – Debbie Johnson of Eastman, GA; Brother-in-law – Greg Johnson (Lisa) of Eastman; GA; Aunt and Uncles – Janice Sutton (Harold) of Macon, GA and Rogers Collins of Chauncey, GA; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
The family may be contacted at the Johnson residence, 2597 Hawkinsville Hwy., Eastman, GA and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Saturday, June 1.
