MR. JAMES EDWARD WILLIAMSON, age 74, of Abbeville, GA, died Monday, July 24, 2023, at Dodge County Hospital.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, July 27, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Luke Smith officiating, with interment in Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Milan.

 James was born in Fitzgerald, GA, and later moved to Eastman when he was twelve. He attended Dodge County High School and later worked at Reeves Brothers, Inc. for several years. He moved to Louisiana and worked on several offshore boats before moving back to Eastman, where he went to work for Shorty Bearden. He later earned his CDL certification and drove a truck for Bearden Oil Company for many years before retiring in 2005. Even in his retirement he worked off and on for many years helping those in need until he finally hung it up for good in 2022. James loved fishing, hunting, and riding in his boat. He was the son of the late Rosa Lee Wright Williamson and Horace Williamson and was preceded in death by his Son, Ken Williamson, and Sister, Patricia Dianne Packey.

 He is survived by his Loving Wife of 24 years – Judy Martin Williamson of Abbeville, GA; Step-Daughter – Georgia Johnson (Leon) of Fitzgerald, GA; 2 Step-Sons – John Paul Martin (Karen) of Abbeville, GA and Brad Martin (Jami) of Rochelle, GA; Several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren; Nephews – David Helms (Kandi) of Florida and Terrence Packey (Bess) of Pennsylvania; Aunt and Uncle – Kay and Gary Lowery of Eastman, GA; Numerous Cousins and Friends.

 The family may be contacted at the Williamson residence, 99 Rivers Edge Rd., Abbeville, GA and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Thursday, July 27. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/, in honor of James.
