MR. JAMES EARL SIMMONS, age 69, of Gresston, GA, died Friday, June 3, 2022, at his residence.

 A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Daniel Cook officiating, and interment at Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Chauncey.

 Mr. Simmons was born in Eastman, GA, a member of Cottondale Baptist Church, and attended Dodge County High School. He was a textile worker for a few years at Reeves Brothers Cotton Mill before beginning a career as a Log Truck Driver in mid 1970s, which lasted for over 40 years. He enjoyed collecting things, especially beer steins and guns. Earl was an animal lover who enjoyed spending time with his canine companions. He loved antiquing with his wife during her life, which they shared over 40 years together. Earl was the son of the late Christine Mercer Simmons and Elbert “Ed” Simmons and was preceded in death by his Wife, Norma Jean Dykes Simmons, and Brother, Ronald Simmons.

 He is survived by his Sister – Glenda Winborn of Eastman; 2 Sisters-In-Law – Mary Ann Dykes Wetzel of Bonaire and Judy Simmons of Gresston; Several Nieces and Nephews and Several Great Nieces and Nephews.

 The family will receive friends at Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:30PM-2:00PM Tuesday, June 7. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faithful Hearts Animal Shelter, 77 Industrial Blvd., Eastman, GA, 31023.
