MR. JAMES CARL CRAVEY, JR, age 77, of Rhine, GA, died Friday, July 15, 2022, at his residence.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Monday, July 18, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Bill Jones officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine, GA with Rev. Ricky Gilmore officiating.

 Mr. Cravey was born in 1945 and a lifelong resident of Rhine, GA. He graduated Dodge County High School in 1964, where he was talented and excelled in Varsity Basketball. James then went to work at Harvey’s in Albany, Nashville, Fitzgerald, Cordele, and Dublin, where he had over a 27-year career as a meat market manager. In the late 1980’s, he started Milan Truck Center where he sold semi-trucks for over 12 years; later moving the business to Rhine in the mid 1990’s. Renamed Rhine Truck Center, he operated this business until 2008. He enjoyed working in his shop with his grandson Case and watching westerns on TV in his recliner. He took excellent care of his vehicles and was very particular about things being right. He was a dedicated husband of 54 years and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. James enjoyed working in his yard and riding his golf cart around the neighborhood with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James was the son of the late Edna Davis Cravey and James Carl Cravey Sr. and was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Wayne “Bill” Cravey.

 He is survived by his Wife – Carolyn Williams Cravey; Son – James Carl “Jim” Cravey, III (Jenny) of Rhine; Daughter – Carla Cravey Jessup (John) of Eastman; 6 Grandchildren – Brooke Jessup St. John (Mike) of Newnan, GA, Brianna Jessup Crummey (Lane) of Eastman, Elaina Cravey (Kyle Rainey) of Eastman, John Barclay Jessup (Madison) of Warner Robins, Lauren Cravey of Eastman, and Case Cravey of Eastman; 4 Great-Grandchildren – Gavin Wright, Paxton Wright, Briggs Crummey, and John Michael Jessup; 2 Sisters – Dale Cravey Braden of Rhine, and Bobbie Cravey Bennett of Rhine; Brother – Eddie Cravey (Barbara) of Rhine; Brother-In-Law – Scott Williams (Lettie Ann) of Rhine; 2 Sisters-In-Law – Felicia Tomberlin Williams of Rhine, and Marie Williams Aldridge (Don) of Rhine; several Nieces and Nephews and Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews.

 The family may be contacted at the Cravey residence, 81 4th Street, Rhine, GA, 31077 and will receive friends, Monday, July 18, from 1:00PM-2:00PM, in Southerland Funeral Chapel.
